Raleigh, NC -- WRAL-TV is one of the nation's first local television stations to offer video services on its mobile news and information application. The new video capability from WRAL Wireless enables Sprint PCS phone subscribers to view custom newscasts and weathercasts throughout the day. They can also view top news stories, sports and other video segments - ensuring that they stay up-to-date wherever they are.
"Video of WRAL News is now available to our mobile phone users no matter where they travel, said Jim Hefner, vice-president and general manager of WRAL-TV. With an increasingly mobile society, there is no better way for viewers to stay informed than with WRAL Wireless."
The WRAL Wireless mobile application was designed by WRAL-TV with assistance from News Over Wireless, a division of Capitol Broadcasting Company's New Media Group. "It is truly exciting to work with a technology leader in the local news market to offer video to the mobile audience," said Sam Matheny, general manager of News Over Wireless. "The WRAL Wireless application has generated great response in user adoption and continues to add capabilities that will help ensure viewers are informed."
WRAL Wireless is a subscription service designed for use on most Sprint Vision-enabled devices and Verizon Wireless Mobile Web 2.0 phones. The new video capability is supported on Sprint multimedia phones.
Customers can register for WRAL Wireless by visiting http://mobile.wral.com/ or by downloading the application from the Download menu on their handset. The monthly fee is for unlimited access to the service and does not include the subscriber's monthly data plan fee.
