(Oct. 21, 2008) – News Over Wireless (NOW) has been named a finalist in the Consumer Technology Company of the Year category and WRAL Local Tech Wire has been named a finalist for the Technology Service Award for the 2008 NCTA 21 Awards. Winners will be announced at the annual awards gala on Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Cary, N.C., presented in conjunction with title sponsor Grant Thornton. The theme for this year's event is “The Election of 2008” and will be attended by more than 500 executives and leaders from across the state.
The NCTA 21 Awards are recognized as North Carolina’s most prestigious awards, celebrating innovation and excellence in North Carolina. This annual showcase honors companies and individuals in 21 categories who represent the best and brightest in technology and business. The awards are grouped in five categories: Technology Industry, Stage of Development, Functional, Leadership and Excellence. Each year, NCTA also presents four individual awards, including: NCTA Volunteer of the Year, Public Leadership in Technology, Technology Executive of the Year, and an Outstanding Achievement Award to an individual who has demonstrated a career-long commitment to the advancement of the technology industry in North Carolina.
