Launched in February 2003, the WRAL WeatherCenter Channel provides local, regional and national forecasts and weather conditions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It can be found on Time-Warner Digital Cable channel 252 or over the air on digital channel 50.3.

The channel works on a 10-minute wheel that is repeated six times an hour. Each 10-minute wheel includes a two-minute video forecast by WRAL's meteorologists. The local forecast is updated after each newscast -- normally four times a day. During severe weather, the channel continuously shows live Doppler5000 and broadcasts audio storm updates from the National Weather Service.
When tropical weather threatens, the WeatherCenter Channel carries maps showing each storm's location, projected movement, wind speeds, active watches and warnings, and local river levels. These special one-minute segments air every six minutes, starting at 1 minute past the top of each hour.
